How To Speak With Passion & Purpose

As we are on vacation during these next couple of days, Ministry Best Practices will be posting the "Best of" articles on different topics that have been some of the more popular posts over the years.

Today we will be looking at how we communicate. Being able to communicate well is one of the most important skills within ministry. We are constantly communicating - particularly speaking. So how do you move past simply being a mediocre speaker to one that communicates well? Do you want to learn how to speak with clarity, purpose and passion? We trust these articles below from Ministry Best Practices will help you in the quest.

There are always three speeches, for every one you actually gave. The one you practiced, the one you gave, and the one you wish you gave.- Dale Carnegie

Good article Jenni. You make good points and, I get weary of the whining about ministry that too many seem to do. So, you've provided a good, helpful corrective.

That said, I do think you neglect one aspect of ministry that is fundamentally different from anything in the corporate world. What we do matters for eternity. It really does not matter how many widgets get sold or if you meet production goals....not ultimately. It does matter to your family and your paycheck, to be sure. But, ministry leaders carry an extra burden....the reality that there are eternal consequences to what we do - for good or bad.

Again, I don't think we should act like we have the most difficult job in the world - after all, I don't want to work on a lobster boat anytime soon! But, we should acknowledge that there is an emotional toll that is spiritual in nature. A toll unique to ministry.

Agreed....I think you make valid points
